DY4C event a success

DY4C all together The latest DY4C event in South Normanton , Derbyshire was a great success. Young Deaf Christians from all over the country came to together to celebrate their faith, have fellowship together and learn more.

As well as leaning more about their faith their were lots of games and a trip to to Alton towers, swimming, and to fireworks in Derby during the weekend.

Of course the real celebrating came when some of the participants decided to give their lives to Christ for the first time.

Theology Without Words

photo of book coverWayne Morris has written a new book on the Theology of he Deaf Community "Theology without words" While most Western theology is word-centred and is either expressed through or dependent on written texts, theology in the Deaf Community is largely non-written. This book presents and examines some of that theology from the Deaf Community and argues that written texts are not necessary for creative theological debate, a deep spirituality or for ideas about God to develop. Wayne Morris is Senior Lecturer in Theology at the University of Chester. He was previously National Coordinator of Church Action on Disability and has worked alongside Deaf people in the churches and education in the UK for 10 years. He is co-author (with Roy McCloughry) of Making a World of Difference: Christian Reflections on Disability (2002)
