Try New Wine this year

 

All three weeks at New Wine will have sign language Interpreters this year but two of the weeks are expecting larger number of Deaf people to camp together . Gordon Brown to discuss Sign Language

Having being challenged by Malcolm Bruce MP to do more to assist British Sign Language users the Prime Minister has agreed to meet with the MP to discuss this “very important issue”.

Mr Bruce who is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness questioned Gordon Brown during the last Prime Minister’s Question time of the year in the House of Commons.

The Prime Minister agreed that the issue of support for British Sign Language was very important and vowed to “see what we can do together.”

Sign Language Interpreters Wanted for  Soul Survivor - a Christian event for young people needs volunteer Sign Language interpreters, especially someone willing to be the Team Leader for the interpreting team..

Signs of God  have been asked to provide a team for WEEK C

Gaza Deaf Children lose hearing aids

deaf children in Gaza schoolIn Gaza City Deaf children are no longer able to use their hearing aids. The Israeli government is increasingly restricting the import into the Gaza Strip of batteries, anesthesia drugs, antibiotics, tobacco, coffee, gasoline, diesel fuel and other basic items, including chocolate and compressed air to make soft drinks.

Now their hearing aid batteries, are all but used up. The few that are left are losing power. The children that relied on oral communication are forced to use sign language, in a country where you can't get  interpreters, and few people know their own local sign language

BBC Auditions

The BBC and its magazine programme 'See Hear' are going to produce two brand new 30' dramas that will feature our best Deaf/ HOH acting talent. Both dramas will use BSL as their primary source of communication and will be subtitled in English. The two dramas are a replacement for 'See Hear's' series 'Switch'.

They are looking for male and female actors of a variety of different ages and backgrounds. The second audition will be held on the 8th of December and filming will take place in the London area in January.

How hard was growing up deaf? In this comedy sketch, four old deaf men try to tell the worst story about their childhood - and there's ten pounds on the table for the 'winner!'

The film was inspired by the classic 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch made famous by Monty Python, but with a new script for a deaf cast.
