Interpreter Training

Trudy Field, a well known Christian interpreter, her son Jonathan and his wife Rebecca are all interpreters and are now working together to start a new business to teach Sign Language interpreting.

The business is called Field Interpreter Training and the three interpreters will be teaching the “180 Training Course”. It is a 2-year, part-time course that will allow successful students to register as MRSLI.

It is the first initial interpreter training to be organised in the Yorkshire region.

“We wanted to start this course because we feel that Deaf people should have the best interpreters and for people to become the best interpreters they need great training.  There are not enough interpreters available in the UK and certainly not enough who are prepared to work in churches. Hopefully the training that we provide will go some way to address that.”

Jonathan and Trudy started interpreting at church and Rebecca was inspired to learn sign language after seeing an interpreter working at a Christian conference. All three have learnt sign language, had interpreter training, gained lots of experience by working a great deal and are now committed to  the training other people.
