Cober Hill provides a centre for residential courses and conferences, and holidays for individual guests and families.

Situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a short drive from Scarborough centre and only 14 miles south of Whitby, on a wonderful stretch of the Heritage Coast overlooking the North Sea. Cober Hill is an ideal location for those wishing to spend their holidays out and about discovering the delights of Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and the many other seaside locations nearby.

Whether you come alone or in a family group, Cober Hill offers you an enjoyable holiday in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. Those looking for the chance to unwind will find the quiet gardens and comfortable surroundings provide the perfect setting. Alternatively, guests may choose to take advantage of the many activities available at Cober Hill, including croquet, bowls, putting, skittles and table tennis to name but a few. Our Summer Holiday Season also includes an optional entertainment programme for both indoors and outdoors.

 

Cober Hill vistaThe facilities at Cober Hill are extensive. A total occupancy of 63 bedrooms, all en-suite, giving 140 bed spaces. Cober Hill''s main building has bedrooms on three floors; 8 single bedded, 15 twin bedded, 2 double and 7 family. There are two dining rooms, a theatre, conservatory, boardroom and three lounges.

 

The Joseph Rowntree Centre, offers bedrooms on two floors; 14 single bedded, 10 twin bedded (two of which are equipped for disabled guests), 4 double and 3 family rooms. The centre also has a multiple use conference hall with an adjoining sheltered patio area, and a comfortable lounge area.

Cober Hill is also an ideal venue for either residential or day conferences, training sessions or business brain-storming! With a choice of seminar rooms available, packages are tailored to meet individual requirements.

Cober Hill excels as an education centre. Our Education Officer is available to assist you in the planning of your visit, with a wealth of resource information readily available for you. Students of all ages, from primary school to university reap the benefits of the educational opportunities to be found in this superb location.

Cober Hill is owned by the two York charities, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. It operates on a non-profit making basis; all the Directors serve in a voluntary capacity.
