I personally would try two different options.

SignsofGod. They coordinate the Christian Interpreters Network. Many of Signs of God people are trained in church services and are able to sign many of the hymns etc that other interpreters find difficult. These interpreters are based across the country. Signs of God will put out an email for you and you can see if you get a response. www.signsofgod.org.uk, gill@signsofgod.org.uk

The second place I would look is the ASLI directory. This is a list of interpreters many who work freelance.
www.asli.org.uk/interpreter-search-p3.aspx

Prices will vary between interpreters but you can ask for quotes.

If you get really stuck...you can contact me if you like - I'm on both the above lists and have interpreted other weddings but could be expensive because of travel costs??

Advice appreciated regarding interpreters 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Hiya

I am looking for some advice regarding interpreters. I am getting married in Warwick, Warwickshire in May 2010 and have been looking for an interpreter for the church service and then through to the after dinner speeche, as my mum is profoundly deaf and it means a lot to me to make sure that she is fully included in all aspects of my wedding day. I do not want to ask one of my siblings or father (all are hearing) to interpreter as I would like them all to enjoy the day too.

The only interpreting services that I have found have been big interpreting companies that deal with hundreds of different types of interpretation/translation (all different languages etc). They seem very inpersonal and I was wondering if anyone had any experience of using such companies? The ones I have currently contacted have been Atlas, Prestige Network and Bubbles Translations. Are they any good?

I would feel awful if the person interpreting wasn't good and if my mum felt left out of the day because of this, as it is the most important day.

Any help, advice or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Lucy
